Come and bake for the Cafe in the Friends' Meeting House Kitchen! The kitchen is health and safety certified, and all our baking should be done here. Also it's a nice, big kitchen which is lovely to bake in, so come and have fun! At the moment I'm setting this up as a one-off event on the cafe site as I'm not sure how much longer we have the kitchen for in the current arrangement, but it should become a regular event. I know it's very soon and everyone's busy with mayweek fun, but please come if you can! We will be particularly in need of cakes this week as we'll be open every night! Start: 18:30
End: 19:30
Every other Tuesday the super keen cafe projectees get together to drink tea, share ideas, review the progress of the Cafe, report back on what we've been doing and look at what needs to be done. You do not have to sign up but If on the afternoon of the meeting there are less than three people signed up as attending, then the meeting will be cancelled, so sign up if you can make it, that way you get a reminder too! Everyone is welcome to come and get involved.

On Mondays we are open as a cafe with an Amnesty letter-writing session going on during the first shift. The early shift needs to show up at 6.30 to clean and set things up! Sign up for "waiter" to serve tea and cake, clean up at the start of first shift and count some money at the end of second shift. There hopefully is someone at every shift who already knows how things work in the cafe, and a list of instructions on the kitchen wall. Still if you have any questions give me a shout! Sign up for "baker" if you want to bake a cake for the opening in your own kitchen. If you'd like to take part in our Tuesday baking sessions at the Friends Meeting House, better still! Sign up for that. When bringing your cake to the cafe, don't forget a receipt for any ingredients we need to reimburse you for, and a label stating clearly your name, the cake's name, the date, and the cake's ingredients (especially allergy-inducing, non-vegetarian or non-vegan).

For anyone that is around during the summer feel free to come along and discuss whats going on and what needs doing. If you want to volunteer in the cafe come and get a feel for what's going on behind the scenes. It would be great to meet people that haven't come before, we are entirely nice and un-scary. signing up is not a necessity but if less than three people have signed up by tuesday afternoon the meeting will not go ahead. see you there!
