The Cambridge Hub is a focal point for charitable, ethical, campaigning and volunteering activities in Cambridge University.  Come along to Hub Nights at the Cafe during term-time, from 7pm till late! The evening starts with a short event, such as a film screening, organised by a different member group each week. This provides a regular focus for people interested in learning more about different social issues, from climate change to human rights to international development. Afterwards, the Café remains open so discussion can continue informally over tea and cake.

The Let Them Work campaign is dedicated to highlighting the injustices experienced by thousands of asylum seekers and refused asylum seekers who are forced into poverty and isolation by being denied the right to work. STAR is calling upon the government to let asylum seekers work.

A talk will given by Alain Munyangabe, a support worker at the Voluntary Sector Refugee Network in Ipswich. He has recently completed his masters in this field and worked with Asylum Seekers and Refugees in the UK. He will talk about this issue, and the experiences of asylum seekers in England.

International Development at the cafe project

From 10am to 7.30pm every Friday the cafe will be run to raise money for the Lesbian Association of India.

 

Each week the cafe will be transformed in line with a theme around which we will cook food, decorate the cafe and host events. Past All Day Fridays have included Mexican Night, French Cafe, live music and films!

 

The Cafe Project is always LGBT friendly but  fridays will be emphasising this with all money raised by Naarii being donated to the Lesbian Association of India. So, EVERYONE is welcome to join us for a relaxing or uplifting drink, to chat or to chill!

 

Each week we will be bringing you a variety of entertainment and film, keep checking back to this page for up to date information.

Fair trade lunch

Games, quizzes and painting from 4pm

Fair trade films from 7pm

Black Gold - the latest fair trade documentary shaking up the business world - 8pm

 

Please also join us at 2pm on Christ's Piece to film a Banana Animation, and meet our fair trade Banana Buffet including Record Breaking Banana Eating contest, 4-6pm, town centre
